Andrew Jack Snyder, 89, of Berrien Springs, was born April 13, 1927, at home in Diller, Nebraska, to JR and Cleta Belle Snyder, the second son and fifth child of a family that would grow to include 10 children. Surrounded by family, he passed away on March 8, 2017, at Lakeland Medical Center after a short illness.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at Pioneer Memorial Church on the campus of Andrews University. Friends may visit with the family from 3-4 p.m. at the church. Andy served his country in the Army at the end of WWII. On a weekend leave while assigned to Fort Polk, Louisiana, he met Julia Thomson on Singing Bands. Andy and Julia were married May 30, 1948. He was a faithful member of Pioneer Memorial Church. Andy and Julia were named Volunteers of the Year at Maranatha Volunteers International, recognizing their countless gifts of time, skill and resources to sharing God’s love around the world. Prior to his retirement, Andy owned and operated his own cement contracting company.

Andy is survived by his wife of almost 69 years, Julia; his four children: Denise (Siegfried) Grentz of Douglasville, Georgia; David (Renate) Snyder of Stephenville, Texas; Rebecca (Mark) Becker of Apopka, Florida; and Rachel Kroncke of Douglasville, Georgia; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three sisters; three sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends.
