Benny Robert Bathula

Benny Robert Bathula, a longtime resident of Berrien Springs, died at their home in Redlands, California on July 6, 2022. The cause of death was due to worsening dementia. He was 84.

Mr. Bathula was born in Nuzvid, Andhra Pradesh, India on November 7, 1937, and came to the United States with his wife, Florence, and daughter, Manjula in 1969.

Armed with a degree in Laboratory Sciences from Christian Medical College, Vellore, Mr. Bathula was able to immediately fill a position in the Mercy Hospital medical laboratory. He retired after 35 years of service at Memorial Hospital. He was grateful for the opportunities granted in the United States.

In addition to his wife, Florence, to whom he was married for 56 years, survivors include his daughters, Manjula and Sheela, and her husband, Rade.

Funeral services will be Sunday, July 17, at Allred Funeral Home in Berrien Springs. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., with the funeral beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Berrien Springs. Messages and memories may be shared online at www.allredfuneralhome.com.
