Carol Sue (Wotring) Fancher was born on August 29, 1942 in Adrian, Michigan and passed away peacefully at her daughter Jen Collins’ home in Ukiah, California, on March 25, 2024.
Carol married her high school sweetheart, Duane Fancher, on August 4,1963 and they lived in Berrien Springs until 2011 when they moved to Northern California to live with Jen. Carol and Duane had been married for nearly 58 years when Duane died in 2021.
Central to Carol’s legacy is her Christian faith; her love of family; and the care, compassion, and dignity that she extended to others and all of God’s creation. As an RN, Carol worked for over 11 years in a hospital setting until she and Duane prayerfully made the decision to open Redwood Manor Elderly Care Home (Berrien Springs) in 1974. Carol and Duane owned and operated Redwood for 32 years.
Carol is survived by son, Keefer Kane (a.k.a. Doug Fancher); daughter, Jen Fancher Collins; son, Ted (Diana) Collins; sister, Patricia (Henry) Kuhlman; sister, Sue Martin; & numerous nieces and nephews.
Carol and Duane were preceded in death by their daughter, Julie Fancher. Also preceding Carol in death were her parents Harold and Erma Wotring; brothers, Glennis Wotring, Roger Wotring, & Ronald Wotring; and sister, Marjorie Wotring.
