Constance McCarron, a beacon of strength and kindness, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2024, at the age of 83 in St Joseph, Michigan. Born on April 2, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, Constance was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
Constance was the cherished daughter of the late Charles Benfield Jr. and Alice (Mueller) Benfield. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles David Benfield III, and her husband, Albert McCarron, from whom she was separated. Her spirit, laughter, and love continue to live on through her two devoted children, Douglas McCarron (married to Cherish) and Joy Groth (married to Chris), as well as her five adoring grandchildren, Eva, Johnathon, Jeremy, Michael, and David Groth. Also surviving is her brother Dr. Kevin F. Benfield, sister in law Jeanette Benfield, and nieces and nephews Cherish (Benfield) Martinez, Kevin C. Benfield, Brent Benfield, Jeana (Benfield) Wallin, and David Benfield.
Constance was a proud graduate of Broadview Academy and furthered her education with college courses that would lay the foundation for her diverse professional life. She dedicated herself to the care of others as a certified nurse assistant, a role in which she touched many lives with her compassion and warmth. Constance also spent time navigating the open road as a truck driver, a testament to her adventurous spirit and strong will.
Her commitment to her community was evident through her active involvement in her faith. A proud member of the Village Seventh-day Adventist Church in Berrien Springs and the South Side SDA Church in Chicago, she also attended the Chicago Beverly Hills SDA Church and the Chicago Burbank SDA Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her.
Constance's interests and hobbies painted the picture of a woman who embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. She was an avid fan of "Walker, Texas Ranger," a television show that mirrored her own sense of justice and courage. Connie had a talent for making people laugh, a gift she generously shared, bringing light and levity to any room she entered. Her creative soul found expression in crafts, pottery, and painting, while her love for horses spoke to her appreciation for the beauty and freedom of the natural world. On top of these things, she loved her little dog Stewie very much.
As we bid farewell to Constance McCarron, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy of love, laughter, and faith that will continue to inspire for generations to come. Her memory will be treasured forever by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A life so well-lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Constance McCarron was indeed a remarkable woman, and her journey through life's tapestry will be held in fond remembrance. As we reflect on her life, we take comfort in the knowledge that her story is not one of sorrow but of triumph, love, and the joy she found in every day. Rest in peace, dear Constance, until we meet again.
