Darrell Lee Zimmerle

Darrell Lee Zimmerle, 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at his home in Berrien Center.

Celebration of Life services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 3, at the Eau Claire Seventh-day Adventist Church, where Darrell was a member for over 40 years. Visitation with the family will be from 2 p.m. until the service begins. Darrell will be laid to rest on Sunday, February 4, at 10 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs. Darrell was born January 1, 1945 in Lakeville, Indiana, to Wilford and Arleda (Hepler) Zimmerle. Darrell’s parents later moved to Eau Claire and opened the Shamrock Grill in Berrien Springs, where Darrell was working when he met his future wife.

Darrell married W. Geraldine (Boozer) Zimmerle on February 2, 1963 in Berrien Springs, and their marriage lasted almost 55 years and produced three sons, Gregg, Steven and Christopher.

In addition to his loving wife, Darrell is survived by his brother, Dale (Winifred) Zimmerle of Decatur; his son, Steven (Christine Trux) Zimmerle of Bridgman, with their four children: Brandon Ashley, Jonathan Zimmerle, Bryan Ashley and Lynzi Zimmerle; his son, Christopher Zimmerle of Sango, Tennessee; and his daughter-in-law, Sue Zimmerle.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Eldon, Carl, Earl, and Larry Zimmerle; two sisters, Betty (Zimmerle) Whiteman and Linda (Zimmerle) Treadway; and his son, Gregg Allen Zimmerle.

Darrell will be remembered as a hard worker who was always willing to help anyone in need. His favorite memories were of spending time with his grandchildren, going on missionary trips to build churches and schools with Maranatha, and going to Sandy Pines RV Resort in Hopkins, Michigan.
