Delores Gaul, born March 26, 1933 to Ewald and Leona (Ladwig) Berkholz, went to be with the Lord on November 12, 2023.
Delores was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Franklin. They farmed together in Michigan, sold produce, and had a U-Pick operation, before moving to Kentucky for 12 years. While in Kentucky, they farmed, and Delores was also a cook at Medco Nursing Home. She loved to read and enjoyed working in her yard. Her greatest joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with the ladies in her Red Hat group.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in St. Joseph. Her strong Christian faith guided her through life’s challenges.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made on behalf of the family to Peace Lutheran Church or St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital.
Delores is survived by her 4 children: Brian (Judy) Gaul, Stephen (Sharon) Gaul, Michele Gaul, and Nancy (Mark) Carpenter. Surviving her as well are 4 siblings: Gerald (Janet) Berkholz, Diane (Ronald “Jim”) Granlund, Suzanne (Michael) Davis, and Kathy (Craig) Gionta. She is also survived by her many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her dear friends Darlene Gaul and Ida Gaul.
Preceding her in death are her parents Ewald and Leona Berkholz. Also preceding her was her step-mother Clara (Zelmer) Berkholz and three brothers James Berkholz, Tom Berkholz, and David Berkholz.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Allred Funeral Home. Family and Friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service at Rose Hill Cemetery, Berrien Springs, on Thursday November 16 at 11:00 AM. www.AllredFuneralHome.com
