Doris May Ferris

Doris Ferris, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2024, just short of her 92nd Birthday in Berrien Springs, MI. Born in 1932, in Gary, IN, to the late Emerald Ray and Katherine Ray. Doris's life was a testament to the power of kindness and devotion.

Doris was a cherished member of the Berrien Springs community, where she was known for her generous spirit and unwavering faith. She was a proud homemaker, dedicating her life to creating a warm and welcoming home for her family and all who entered it. Her hands were rarely still, as she found joy in knitting and sewing, crafting beautiful pieces that were both practical and filled with love. Doris also found solace in the pages of books, where she traveled to worlds far and wide through her love of reading.

Her commitment to her faith was evident in her active membership at the Village Seventh-day Adventist Church in Berrien Springs. There, she formed lasting friendships and served her community with a grace that inspired all who knew her.

Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Winston, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories and love. They were married in Berrien Springs in 1951. She was preceded in death by her children, Bruce and Lori, as well as her brother, Robert. Her legacy continues through her surviving children, Rick and Barbara. Doris was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Marilyn.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm at the Village Seventh Day Adventist church in Berrien Springs on March 24, 2024.
