Dorothy Loraine Mensinger

September 9, 1924 — April 27, 2016

Dorothy Loraine Mensinger, 91, of St. Joseph, passed on to her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at her home, with her caring son, Jerry, by her side.

Dorothy was born September 9, 1924, in Chicago, the daughter of Emil Hosnedl and Antonette Cebek.  Dorothy and her family moved to Royalton Township in 1931, and Dorothy graduated in the Class of 1943 from St. Joseph High School.  She married Leroy Mensinger November 2, 1946.  They raised their two sons on their 60-acre farm.  Dorothy worked on the farm, at Jewel Foods, and was president of Twin Cities Rubber and Plastic Supply, Inc.

Dorothy enjoyed traveling the world, polka dancing, 10 years fishing at Lake Corey, and 18 years in Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Andrew Hosnedl; and sister, Violet Dass.

She is survived by her son, Ronald (Darlene) Mensinger, two grandchildren: Nathan Mensinger and Stephanie (Jacob) Burgess, four great-grandchildren—all of Alabama; son, Jerry of Florida; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Dorothy will be laid to rest at a later date at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph.
