Douglas Paul Ewalt, 62, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020, in South Bend, Indiana.
Douglas was born on November 30, 1958, in Berrien Center, Michigan, to Frank and Marcella (Buechter) Ewalt. He was a 1977 graduate of Berrien Springs High School, and served as an offensive lineman on the football team. He married the love of his life, Carla Ziebarth, on August 16th, 1980, in Three Oaks.
Douglas could frequently be found fishing the inland lakes around Berrien County, woodworking, crafting night crawler harnesses, or rooting for his beloved Bears, Cubs, and Michigan State Spartans.
His sense of humor brightened the day of everyone around him, including and especially his wife of 40 years, Carla (Ziebarth) Ewalt; his daughter, Amber (Jeff) Burnham; two sons, Joshua and Aaron (Annie Sullivan); four grandchildren: Elskan, Alistair, Volund and Freyja; his sister, Mary Chatelain; brothers, Ronald, Russell, and Phillip; his mother-in-law, Nancy McLamb; and many others who will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, at Allred Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
