Katherine Anne Elizabeth Postman

Katherine Anne Elizabeth Hass Postman, 94, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020 at home in Berrien Springs.

She was born April 27, 1926, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, the fifth of seven children of Bernard Albert Andrew and Mary Elizabeth (Diener) Hass. Katherine married George James Keith on March 18, 1946. They had four children: William “Bill”, Betty, Barbara, and Beverly. George died on May 18, 1955 from congestive heart failure. Katherine and her children moved to District Heights, Maryland, to be closer to her family. Her brother, Edward, hired Katherine to work in his company, Hass Instrument Company, where she met Richard Allen Postman and married him on November 11, 1960.

In 1965, Richard and Katherine moved to a farm in Pulaski, Wisconsin before relocating to Berrien Springs in 1970, where Richard finished his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Industrial Education at Andrews University and later taught Industrial Arts and Agriculture there for a number of years. They resided in Berrien Springs for over 40 years.

Katherine enjoyed crocheting and spent many years making a total of 384 children's sweaters to send to national and international disaster relief organizations, along with many other items for family and friends. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her ever-growing family.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard Postman; her four children: son, William Keith of Coloma and daughters, Betty Johnson of Arizona, Barbara Johnson of Ohio, and Beverly Price of California; brother, Charles Hass of Florida; sister, Marion Baartz of Oregon; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Walter and Edward Hass; and two sisters, Esther Nivison and Lorraine Harris.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, at Rose Hill Cemetery. Messages and memories may be left online at www.allredfuneralhome.com.
