Kathryn L. Macklin, 89, of Berrien Springs, died Monday, February 13, 2017, at Old Farm Living Center in Berrien Springs.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 19, at Allred Funeral Home, Berrien Springs, where friends may visit from 1 – 3 p.m. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday, February 20, at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles. Online messages www.allredfuneralhome.com.
Kathryn was born June 16, 1927, in Monterey, Indiana, the daughter of Frederick and Nellie (Wilhelm) Thompson. In addition to caring for her family, she was a teacher in the Benton Harbor area schools, beginning her career at Meade School in Buchanan. She was a member of Berrien County Retired Teachers Association, and her church membership was at Glenwood Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Surviving are a son, Donald (Susan) Macklin of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Patricia Parker of Buchanan; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Miles of Tennessee; and brother, James Thompson of Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Macklin, in 1997; a sister, Betty Feig; and two brothers, Robert and Clarence Thompson.
