Lally Jenny Ulery, 60, died on Friday, December 23, 2016. Lally was born May 22, 1956 in Elanthoor, Kerala, India, the oldest child of Chacko Koshy and Aleyama John. Three other siblings would follow—Koshy, Shally and Julie.
She completed her high school studies at Lowry Memorial School in Bangalore, India, and Bachelor’s Degree at Spicer Memorial College in Pune, India.
In 1978, Lally arrived on the campus of Andrews University to pursue a Master’s Degree. During her studies she met her future husband, Larry Ulery. Larry and Lally both graduated with Master of Arts degrees from Andrews University in the summer of 1980. Shortly after graduating, the couple married in November of 1980 in India on the campus of Spicer Memorial College. They celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary on November 16th of this year.
They settled in Southwest Michigan and began their professional careers and soon began a family. Son, Shawn Andrew, was born in 1984 and daughter, Richelle Lynn, in 1991.
Lally loved church and volunteering at church. Through the years she was a health ministry and music ministry leader, deaconess, Sabbath School teacher, choir member, elder, church board member, and praise team participant. She played piano, organ, guitar and was learning cello.
She was a voracious reader, preferring biographies, autobiographies, history, religion, and health and wellness topics. No “couch potato,” she was an avid runner, walker and hiker, and liked working out in general.
A devoted wife and mother, she loved family worships, family dinners and get-togethers, picnics with family and friends and enjoyed camping and cooking. Along with her husband, they enjoyed Southwest Michigan beaches and parks, especially Silver Beach County Park in St. Joseph.
Lally was employed at Lakeland Health for more than 30 years, most recently as an Outpatient Rehabilitation Case Manager. She was fond of her work and co-workers, and happy when patients had satisfied outcomes as a result of their encounter with her and the Lakeland team.
Survivors include her husband, Larry; son, Shawn; daughter, Richelle; mother, Aleyama John; brother, Koshy John; and sisters, Shally John (Joshua) Marcoe and Julie John (Steve) Hooley.
