Lawrence Allen Ebert of Berrien Springs died December 18, 2021.
Larry Ebert, 70, also known as Brother Larry, Uncle Larry and Papa Larry, was much loved and will be missed by many. He worked 28 years at Wolverine Metal Stamping in St. Joseph, Michigan until he retired. But his greatest delight was to serve and help people in need. He spent his last 15 years helping operate a church and ministry home in Berrien Springs. He loved to spend time in the kitchen, cooking and creating his own unique dishes. He prepared a meal every week for Sabbath lunch serving 20 plus people. Most of the food served was grown in a one acre organic garden at the ministry home. Planting the seeds and harvesting the food was such a joy to him. Herbs were his specialty, growing, harvesting and preserving every variety possible to grow in Michigan.
He gladly served by teaching a weekly Sabbath School class, and twice each week he went singing and visiting at nursing homes. However Larry's early morning prayer walk was the supreme highlight of every day! Many people saw him on Red Bud Trail with his walking lights as he was praying for all the multitude of people on his prayer list, often praying with tears. Eternity alone will reveal the results of Larry's life of ministry and prayer.
Larry was born June 11, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence James Ebert and Jean Ann Sebesta; and his siblings, Ladd Ebert and Julie. He is survived by his nephews, Dustin (& Michelle) Draper and Tommy (& Melanie) Newman; and his niece, Mandy McCall.
A memorial service for Larry will be held in the spring. Please share a memory online at www.allredfuneralhome.com.
