Lawrence Charles Brooks

Lawrence Charles Brooks “Larry”, 71, passed away on January 29, 2023 in Mishawaka, Indiana after complications from a stroke.

Larry was born on March 25, 1951 to Clyde and Louise Brooks in Chattanooga, TN. Larry attended Little Creek Academy in Knoxville, TN, Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, TN, and later attended DePaul University in Chicago, IL. He became a CPA, and his favorite jobs were when he worked as President of Health Care at Home in Stevensville, MI and most recently at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, NC where he was the Controller for many years.

Larry met the love of his life, Sharon, in 1973 where they both worked at Hinsdale Hospital, and they were married in 1974.

Larry was a kind, quiet, calm and good-natured man, who was determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned.

He enjoyed reading, listening to music, spending time with his family, watching his grandchildren grow, and he enjoyed singing whether it be in the church choir or with his wife and daughter.

Anyone who knew Larry knew that he was the most loving father, spouse, and grandfather a family could ask for.

Larry was predeceased by his mother, Louise; and his father, Clyde.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; his sons, Timothy (Angie) and Christopher (Karen); daughter, Heather (Joe); grandchildren: Devin, Nicholas, Natalia and Jameson; his sister, Sheryl (David); and nieces, Shannon (Aaron) and Lindsey.

The family requests that all flowers and cards be sent to their home. There will be a memorial service held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 2 p.m. at the Redeemer Church, 1234 Fulkerson Road, Niles, MI 49120; and a service in Sanford, North Carolina will be held at a later date.
