Lillian M. Down

Lillian Mae (Kourt) Down, 94, of Berrien Springs, died peacefully on February 4, 2017 at Woodland Terrace of Longmeadow in Niles.

She was born March 3, 1922 in South Lyon, Michigan and attended school in Brighton, Michigan. She married Lloyd Andrew Down in 1940 and was employed by Burroughs Corporation during WW II.

After raising their four children, Lillian ran an office for United Medical Laboratories in Detroit before moving to Berrien Springs in 1980. Lillian was an excellent seamstress and a loving mother to her entire family.

She is survived by her daughter, Theresa (Tim) Sampson; sons, William (Denise) and Paul (DaoNoi); nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Lillian’s eldest daughter, Robbin Down, passed away on January 1, 2017.

A celebration of Lillian’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at Pioneer Memorial Church in the Youth Chapel.  Allred Funeral Home, Berrien Springs, has been entrusted with arrangements. Online messages may be left at www.allredfuneralhome.com.
