Lounette Ilene (Ley) Hinkle, 94, died December 25, 2022, peaceful at home in Berrien Springs, surrounded with family.
She was born to August Fred Ley and Hilma Alvina (Edstrom) Ley in Springfield, IL on August 20, 1928.
She graduated from Bethel Academy in Wisconsin in 1946, and from Emmanuel Missionary College in 1951 as a nurse, and she worked for 36 years.
Lounette Ley married John Franklin Hinkle on December 5, 1954 in Waupaca, WI. They were married until John died January 11, 2004.
She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Hilma Ley; husband, John Hinkle; daughter-in-law, Isis Hinkle; and son-in-law, Terry Nelson.
Lounette Hinkle is survived by her children: Barbara Veres, John (Elizabeth) Hinkle, Karen (John) Davidson, Nancy (Terry, deceased) Nelson.
Grandchildren: Isadora (Sean) Sullivan, Alisha Knutsen, Codi (Caleb) Jahn, John Mark (Rochelle) Davidson, Jennifer (Dan) Falconer, Tyler (Billi) Nelson, Tiffany (Ricky) Engle, Bethany Nelson, Cindy Veres, Matthew Veres, Sandie (Trenton) Personette, Lacey Kohltfarber, Randi (Shawn) Hughes.
Great-grandchildren: Destiny Russell, Wesley Russell, Julia Russell, Paige Russell, April Knutsen, Amber Knutsen, Violet Knutsen, Ethan Knutsen, Conner Jahn, Callista Jahn, Carson Jahn, Nolan Davidson, Everett Davidson, Raven Davidson, Logan Faulconer, Cameron Faulconer, Eli Nelson, Kaleb Stevenson, Aaren Personette, Cloey Personette, Melina Kohltfarber, Jayla Kohltfarber, Liam Hughes, Alyssa Fein, Lucas Veres, Seth Sullivan, Kayla (Bryle) Andrino, Jake Sullivan, Keagan Sullivan, Sierra Engle, Landon Engle, Tristan Engle, and Crystallyn Russell. Special friends: Ryan Proctor, Don, Mungtong, Ruthdim and Lenpi Mung; many nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law: Lois Hinkle, Norma Wagner, and Caroline Wetmore.
Lou volunteered at Neighbor2Neighbor for many years, and was a member of the Village SDA Church since 1960.
Memorial service will be held April 23, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Village SDA Church, burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Berrien Springs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Justified Walk Ministries, Adventist Frontier Missions, or Village SDA Church School (VAES).
