Marilyn Marie (Hutson) Lowe, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, at the age of 95 in Baroda, Michigan. Born on September 4, 1929, in Terre Haute, Indiana, Marilyn's life was a testament to the power of generosity and the warmth of an ever-present smile.
Marilyn was the cherished daughter of the late Glen Hutson and Elizabeth (Koch) Hutson. Her journey through life was shared with her beloved husband, Clarence Lowe Jr., who preceded her in death, as did her brother Robert Hutson and her treasured daughter Sonia (Duane) Hopkins. Her legacy continues through her loving children, Sandra (Bruce) Ingels, Susan (Rob) Stringer, Steven (Perri) Lowe, and Scott Lowe. Marilyn's joy was multiplied by her eight grandchildren - Jennifer, Carey, Ryan, Chad, Tricia, Andy, Jeannie & Brian and eight great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her spirit of love and giving.
Throughout her life, Marilyn dedicated herself to the service of others. Her caring nature found a professional outlet in her work as a nurse's aide at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, Indiana & New England Hospital, Stoneham, Massachusetts, where she provided comfort and care to those in need. Later, she became a familiar and friendly voice as a switchboard operator at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, connecting and assisting with a kind word and a ready laugh. She was a member of the Village Seventh-day Adventist Church
Marilyn's interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. She had a passion for jigsaw and crossword puzzles, which she approached with the same patience and attention to detail that she gave to every aspect of her life. A collector of rocks from her travels and her gardening was a testament to the beauty of the natural world she so loved. She created warmth and beauty through her knitting, crafting not just garments but also tangible expressions of her love.
Family was the cornerstone of Marilyn's world. She loved her children and took immense pleasure in their accomplishments and happiness. Her infectious smile and laughter were the heart of countless family gatherings, and her attempts at new recipes from magazines or newspapers were always received with delight and anticipation.
Marilyn was a giver in every sense of the word. Her generosity extended beyond her family to touch the lives of friends and strangers alike. She gave not just material gifts but also her time, her wisdom, and her unconditional support. Those who knew her would describe Marilyn as loving, kind, and generous—words that only begin to capture the essence of a woman who lived her life with an open heart.
