Mildred Swanson, 90, of Berrien Springs, died Saturday evening, November 25, 2017. She was born July 2, 1927, in North Yarmouth, Maine, the daughter of Everett and Viola (Baston) Jamieson. She married Arnold R. Swanson on June 20, 1948, in Camden, Maine. In addition to being a homemaker, she was a Seventh-day Adventist church school teacher in New England and Michigan, and also served as a librarian at Greater Boston Academy. Mildred loved being with friends and family, enjoyed flowers and animals, and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. Her church membership was at Pioneer Memorial Church.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, December 2, at Pioneer Memorial Church on the campus of Andrews University, Berrien Springs, where friends are invited to visit from 3-4 p.m., prior to the service. Survivors include her husband, Arnold; daughter, Linda (Chris) Fuchs; brother, Judson (Donna) Jamieson; two grandchildren: Wayne (Tonya) Fuchs and Crystal (Blake) Shelley; and four great-grandchildren: Tyler Blake Shelley, Seth Shelley, Noah Shelley, and Aeris Fuchs.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Margaret Donnelly Jamieson; her son, Wayne Swanson; granddaughter, Anne Fuchs; and four brothers: Carroll Jamieson, Lloyd Jamieson, Lee Jamieson, and John Donnelly.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be given in memory of Mildred Swanson, to the Christian Education Scholarship Fund. Checks should be made out to: MI Conf. Assn. of SDA—CES and mailed to Michigan Conference of SDA, ATTN: Education Dept., 320 W St. Joseph St., Lansing, MI 48933.
