Nancy Marks, 69, of Berrien Center, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Pine Ridge Long Term Care Facility in St. Joseph.
Born to Marian and Elmer Richter, Nancy grew up in Berrien Springs and graduated from Berrien Springs High School in 1971. She dedicated her life to caring for others and worked as a Registered Nurse for 40+ years. She started her career as an OB Nurse and hung up her stethoscope in 2020, when she retired from the Heart Center at Spectrum Health Lakeland.
Nancy had two loves; the love for her children and grandchildren. Rarely would you see Nancy out and about without one of her grandkids trailing behind. She spent countless hours attending their sporting events and/or school events and didn’t take one minute for granted when with them. A close second was her love for animals. Her German shepherd, Winston, was a well-loved companion to her.
Nancy was married to Don Marks for 30 years and lost him suddenly to Covid-19 on Feb. 1, 2022. Her family finds peace in knowing that they are now reunited and probably have already found the best selection of slot machines in their Heavenly home.
Nancy is survived by her children, Heidi (Shawn) de la Foret and Gary (Jami) Zech, both of St. Joseph; her step-daughter, Brittany (Kyle) Duncombe of Las Vegas, NV; her step-son, Scott Marks of Chesterton, IN; her sisters, Carol (George) Cuthbert of Niles, MI and Linda (John) Dye of Nappanee, IN; her grandchildren, Elliott de la Foret, Sophie de la Foret, Asher de la Foret, Brody Zech, Garrett Zech, Maddy Marks, Emme Marks, Luke Duncombe and Liv Duncombe; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Don Marks; her parents, Elmer and Marian Richter; and her son, Matthew Richter.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 15, from 4-6 p.m. at Allred Funeral Home in Berrien Springs, with a memorial service following at 6 p.m. Messages and memories may be left online at www.allredfuneralhome.com.
