Rena Mae Hoffner, 91, of Berrien Springs, died Monday, May 22, 2017, at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 25, at Allred Funeral Home, Berrien Springs, with burial following in Long Lake Cemetery. Friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with online messages to www.allredfuneralhome.com. Memorial donations may be made to Berrien Springs First Baptist Church (where she was a member) or Hospice at Home.
Rena was born July 15, 1925, in Manila, Arkansas, the daughter of Frank B. and Ima Jewel (Matheny) Short. She married John Junior Hoffner, and in addition to caring for their family, she had worked for Faulkner Fabricating.
Surviving are a son, Jerry Wayne (Bonnie) Hoffner; two daughters, Jonna Kay (Roger) Elowsky and Char (Brian) Quiriconi; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd (Sue) Short and Boyd (Jane) Short; and two sisters, Cordelia Matlock and Opal Karns.
Rena was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Iantha Dietz; a son, Eddy Hoffner; a brother, Junior Short; and two sisters, Mable Gentry and Cora Lee Looney.
