Robert "Bob" Ludeman

Robert “Bob” Ray Ludeman fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at Woodland Terrace of Longmeadow in Niles, following an extended illness.

Bob was born April 28, 1929, on the family farm in Kolin, Judith Basin County, Montana, the son of Ray and Hazel Gertrude (Strong) Ludeman. He grew up the typical farm kid, helping with the chores for both his parents and grandparents, Henry and Anna Ludeman. He attended grade school in Kolin, Stanford, and Hobson, Montana, then attended high school at Mount Ellis Academy, a Seventh-day Adventist boarding academy near Bozeman, Montana.

Following graduation, Bob attended Walla Walla College in College Place, Washington, graduating with a BS degree in Physics and a Master’s degree in Education. Following graduation, Bob also received his Master’s degree in Physics from Oregon State University. He taught at Upper Columbia Academy for 10 years before accepting a position at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, where he was professor of Electronics for the next 30 years. While at Andrews University, Bob obtained his PhD in Physics from Michigan State University, and he authored the college textbook entitled “Introduction to Electronic Devices and Circuits”.

Bob married his high school sweetheart, Nona Mae Roosma, on June 30, 1949, in College Place, Washington. During their careers they mentored many students and developed many friendships that continued long after their retirements. Upon retiring, Bob and Nona spent 10 years as snowbirds doing volunteer work at Pine Lake Retreat in Florida.

Bob was predeceased by his wife, Nona; and by his sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine (Ludeman) and Lars Surdal.

He is survived by his brother, Russell (Karin) Ludeman of Bozeman, Montana; cousin, Arthur Neal (Winnifred) Ward; nieces: Denise (Charlie) Fagala, Kathy (Don) Cheney, and Kristi (Billy) Watkins; nephews, Ralph (DJ) Surdal, Kelvin (Cyndy) Surdal, Sam (Diana) Roosma, Dirk (Tammy) Roosma, Lou (Laurie) Roosma, and Tom (Kathy) Roosma; and his foster brother, Larry (Marlene) Gore.
