Ronald Becker Graham, a cherished soul known for his loving and kind nature, passed away peacefully in his home on January 24, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on March 31, 1939, in Paw Paw, Michigan, Ronald's life was a testament of his dedication to God, his family, and to Christian education.
Ronald's early years were spent in the nurturing care of his parents, Glen Graham and Ruth (Binks) Graham, both of whom preceded him in death. His journey in education began in his home state, where he earned an associate's degree in Agriculture from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. This interest in agriculture would influence much of Ronald's professional life.
In June of 1962, Ronald married his sweetheart, Arlene June Oetman. Together they embarked in ministry for 40 years at Broadview Academy (BVA) in LaFox, Illinois. Ronald dedicated himself to the role of grounds and maintenance manager at BVA, where he focused his commitment to excellence in the care of the Academy grounds & the mentoring of many student workers. Upon retiring in 2003 Ronald & Arlene moved back to Michigan where Ronald returned to the Andrews University farm, where he found great joy in contributing to the farm's operations up thru October 2024. Throughout his 60 years of labor, Ronald often remarked, “Since I love what I do, I feel that I have never worked a day in my life”.
Ronald's heart was ever at home, where he was a devoted husband and loving father. Ronald & Arlene, in partnership, built a life together based on their shared commitment to Christian values and the ministry that they both were called to. His legacy continues through his two (2) sons; Roland (wife; Michelle & sons Justin & Gavin (wife; Lariza), and Royce (wife; Heather) Graham, who will carry forward these values that he & Arlene embodied. Ronald's life was further enriched by the companionship of his two sisters, Shari (Ken) Kendall and Marjorie Zantello, who survive him and will hold his memory dear.
Beyond his professional and family life, Ronald had a love for horses and took great pleasure in caring for his property during his retirement years. Those who knew him remember a gentle and caring man, whose presence was always steady and reliable. His faithfulness in all aspects of life, coupled with his tireless work ethic, leave a legacy for all who knew him.
To describe Ronald is to speak of love, kindness, and acceptance of all. He was the embodiment of these virtues, touching the lives of those he met with his warm smile and generous spirit.
As we bid farewell to Ronald Becker Graham, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and grace. His was a journey marked by the love he gave and the respect he earned. Though he now rests in Jesus, the seeds of goodness he planted in the hearts of his family and friends will bloom for generations to come. Ronald's story is one of a good man who lived well, loved deeply, and left a legacy of kindness that will forever be cherished.
