Sosaia Palaki Si’i (Paul) Paea, a cherished husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024, in Addison, Illinois, at the age of 60. Born on February 27, 1964, in Haveluloto, Tonga. Paul was known for his loving, kind, and gentle nature. His presence brought warmth and tranquility to every room he entered, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Paul was the beloved husband of Lavinia Paea, with whom he shared a beautiful life since their union on November 29, 1986, in Riverside, California. Together, they raised a vibrant family, instilling values of love, hard work, and dedication. He is survived by his wife Lavinia (Mia) Paea, their five children, Vilimuli Paea, Phillip Paea, Tupouahau Paea (Sidney), Melesiu Hirt (Brianna), and Lisita Paea, finally his two grandsons Jay Hirt and Sosaia Paea-Montano. His legacy continues through his family, including his four siblings, Talamonu Paea, Faingaa Paea, Melesiu Tovi, and Tupouahau Saafi.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Palaki Paea and Vainiaku Paea, and his brother Vaoloka Paea. His family takes comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his loved ones in eternal peace.
In his professional life, Paul was a respected builder, known for his craftsmanship and integrity. Throughout Berrien County, his work as a builder stands as a testament to his skill and dedication to his craft. His contributions to the community are evident in the many buildings that bear his touch, and his influence will be felt for generations to come.
Paul's passion for life was evident in his love for music. He found joy in the rhythms of Reggae and Polynesian music, which often filled the Paea household. A hard worker by nature, he also knew the importance of relaxation and cherished moments spent driving around in his truck, a simple pleasure that brought him immense satisfaction.
Above all, Paul was a family man. He cherished the time spent with his loved ones, whether it was a quiet evening at home or a lively family gathering. His loving and quiet demeanor was a source of comfort and strength for his family, and his guidance and support helped shape the lives of his children.
Paul's life was a portrait of love, dedication, and quiet strength. Those who knew him will remember his gentle smile, his soft-spoken words, and the unwavering love he had for his family. His memory will be a beacon of light for all who were touched by his kindness.
As we say goodbye to Sosaia Palaki Paea, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Paul's journey on earth has ended, but his story continues through the lives of those he loved and the many people he touched with his gentle soul.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Allred Funeral Home in Berrien Springs.
A celebration of life will be held at Village Seventh-day Adventist Church on August 16 at 12:00 PM. A visitation will take place before the service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
