BERRIEN SPRINGS – Thomas L. Mannen, 79, passed away peacefully Jan. 7, 2023, at 2 p.m. in his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 15, 1943, in Plymouth, IN, the son of Orville Mannen and Jean Hathaway.
Thomas graduated from Riley High School in South Bend, Class of 1961. Following graduation, he served proudly with the United States Army in Vietnam from January 1965 to December 1966. After his military service, he worked in the Consolidated Freight trucking service industry before owning the pro shop at Beacon Bowl. He later worked for CSI Trucking then Paychecks in Florida. He married his beloved wife, Karen Keiser, July 26, 1996. His interests included bowling and later playing golf with his sons and veteran friends. He was very knowledgeable in sports trivia and always loved watching football. He was a very loving and caring man to all who knew him and always quick witted with historical knowledge.
He was survived by his loving wife Karen Mannen and their five children: daughter Shannon (Shawn) Sunnarborg, daughter Kim (Steve) Gerald, son Thomas J. Mannen and Jen Johnson, son David (Jennifer) Mannen, and daughter Jennifer Osteen. 10 grandchildren: Chelsea Sunnarborg, Tyler Sunnarborg, Jordan Sunnarborg, Kaeti (Brendan) Pearson, Briann (Jesse) Hanley, Blake Gerald, Delainey Gerald, Lily Mannen, Reid Mannen and Amelia Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Ellie Hanley and Penelope Sue Pearson; sister Sally Might; brothers Bob Mannen, Sam Mannen, Jim Mannen; brothers-in-law Steve Keiser and Gary Keiser.
Visitation will be 1:30-2:30 p.m. Wed., Jan. 11, 2023 at Allred Funeral Home, Berrien Springs, with Military Graveside Services at 3 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Berrien Springs. www.allredfuneralhome.com.
