Virginia E. Eakley

Virginia Ellen Eakley, 91, of Berrien Springs, was born to Verna M. and Leroy A. Eakley on May 13, 1924, in Oak Harbor, Ohio, and fell asleep in Jesus, surrounded by friends, on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at her home.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Allred Funeral Home, Berrien Springs, with Pastor Ron Kelly of the Village Seventh-day Adventist Church officiating. Friends are invited to leave messages and memories online at www.allredfuneralhome.com.

Virginia graduated from Bethel Academy in Arpin, Wisconsin, in 1943, and Emmanuel Missionary College (now Andrews University) in 1947. She worked as a Seventh-day Adventist elementary school teacher for 40 years in Ohio; Cicero, Indiana; and Ruth Murdoch Elementary in Berrien Springs. She enjoyed traveling, writing poetry, and her cats and dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her older sister, Annabel E. Sevison; her younger sister, Marion Moyer; her cousin, Marvin (who was raised by her parents); and friend, Phyllis Standen.

Survivors include her cousin, David Goodsight; step-niece, Laura Frey; and step-nephew, Lester Sevison.
