William W. Davidson, 87, of Niles, died Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Caretel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph, surrounded by loving family.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, at Pioneer Memorial Church on the campus of Andrews University, where friends may visit beginning at 3 p.m. until service time. Dr. Davidson was born July 8, 1930, in Chauncey, Ohio, the son of John E. and Alta (Metzger) Davidson. He proudly served his country during the Korean War. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in civil engineering at Ohio University, and a Ph.D. at Pennsylvania State University, and he had been a professional engineer for the states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Colorado. He moved to Michigan from Ohio, and he was Professor of Engineering at the School of Architecture at Andrews University and held the title of Professor Emeritus. He loved working with students, including going on many Maranatha mission trips with them.
Survivors include three sons: William Jr. (Cathy) of Athens, Ohio, Mark (Karen) of Berrien Springs, John (Karen) of Commerce City, Colorado; two daughters: Shawna (Dan) Guiett of Saginaw, Michigan, and Carol (Charles) Mendoza of Silver Spring, Maryland; nine grandchildren: Tracy, John, Felicia, Zachary, Codi, John Mark, Chelsea, Emily, Gwen; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents; brothers, John and James; sisters: Aurelia, Alta, Ann; and his wife, Jacqualyn, in 2017.
